Description

Would like to be able to specify a URL that can be called if used to add a prefix to the Caller ID.

Example:
the user could specify http://www.example.com/get_order_no.php?number=[NUMBER]
The page would be a specialized page meant to return a simple string 15 characters or less (truncate the result) such as a customers order number.
Using the php function fopen to retrieve the contents of the page, this data can be prepended to the caller ID.

Please give an example where this feature might be used - and perhaps more details about the target audience use of the feature.

The target audience would be organizations that might have information stored about a customer that is linked to a phone number.

For example: An e-commerce company (which I work for) might have hundreds of thousands of orders, each order having a phone number or two associated with it. When a customer calls in, if the phone number was used on a previous order, it is good to have that order number prefixed on the caller ID so that the customer service agent taking the call has a jump-start on answering the customers questions because they know that the customer calling in is likely calling about a previous order and they can pull that order up on their screen before answering the call.

I have modified the predecessor (Caller ID Trifecta) to do this internally, and have not upgraded to this FreePBX module because I didn't feel like modifying again.

This tool would probably be most used by organizations that have a wide and varied caller base, where isn't not effective to store information in the astridex or asterisk phone book.
